THE FORT DECKING BLOCKS ARE WARRANTED BY FORT DECKING SYSTEMS (“WE” OR “US”) FOR 25
YEARS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE FROM MANUFACTURING DEFECTS ONLY. THIS WARRANTY IS NON-TRANSFERABLE. THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER COSTS AND EXPENSES WITH RESPECT TO THE REMOVAL OF THE DEFECTIVE Fort Decking BLOCKS AND/OR THE STRUCTURE SUPPORTED BY OR UNDERNEATH THE Fort Decking BLOCKS, OR THE INSTALLATION OF REPLACEMENT MATERIALS, INCLUDING LABOR AND SHIPPING CHARGES. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. UPON CONFIRMATION THAT A DEFECT HAS OCCURRED WHICH FALLS UNDER THE Fort Decking BLOCK WARRANTY, WE WILL PROVIDE TO YOU FREE OF CHARGE A NEW REPLACEMENT Fort Decking BLOCK. TO MAKE A CLAIM, PROOF OF PURCHASE AND EVIDENCE OF FAULT (I.E., PHOTOS OR OTHER EVIDENCE OF THE FAULTY Fort Decking BLOCK) MUST BE PRESENTED TO US. ALL WARRANTIES ARE AT OUR DISCRETION.
This warranty applies only to normal, non-abusive use and does not cover or warrant against any of the following:
• Cutting or otherwise modifying the Fort Decking block, which may severely detract from its structural integrity and which may lead to damage to property, injury or even death.
• Breakage caused by impacts, abrasions or over-stressing of the Fort Decking block at any temperature.
• Improper installation.
• Installation in areas exposed to usage / weight beyond what we recommended or what is beyond local building code requirements.
• Excessive movement, settling, distortion or collapse of the substrate or terra firma supporting the Fort Decking block system.
• Impacts and damage resulting from snow or ice removal.
• Damage from natural disasters or extreme weather events.
• It is recommended that Fort Decking blocks be installed in above freezing temperatures, and if installed in below freezing temperatures, avoid all dynamic loads and physical impacts to the product during the installation process.
• Damage caused by direct sunlight, could reduce the service life of a Fort Decking block to below 25 years.
Additional Requirements and Obligations: It is highly recommended that you comply with the following requirements and obligations, and failure to do so could result in the warranty being voided, and may even result in damage to property, injury or even death:
• Inspect each Fort Decking block for any damage (cuts, splits, cracks, dents, etc.) that may impair its function, and do not use any damaged Fort Decking blocks. Damaged Fort Decking blocks should be returned to the point of purchase.
• Transport and store Fort Decking blocks in a safe and secure manner, and keep out of direct sunlight (as exposure to the sun could shorten the effective lifespan of the Fort Decking blocks).
• All installation work must comply with Fort Decking block installation procedures, including the recommended placement and allocation of Fort Decking blocks.
• You must not exceed the load capacity of the Fort Decking block foundation system, and you must plan for localized portions of your project that may be required to bear heavy loads (i.e., large planters, water features, heavy furniture). Excessively heavy features are not advised to be supported solely by the Fort Decking block foundation system (and the use of Fort Decking blocks in combination with traditional concrete and steel support methods will be required in such situations).
• Place dampening pads under features that crate vibrations, as excessive vibrations could compromise the structural integrity of the Fort Decking block foundation system.
• Fort Decking blocks may only be installed on surfaces with a minimum of [40 psi] bearing capacity. When placed on terra firma, the substrate must be adequately compacted.
• Always place Fort Decking blocks on a level substrate that is of the proper height (proper height to be achieved by adding to and/or compacting the existing material). Use of shims must be avoided and will void the Fort Decking warranty due to ‘point loading’.
• The substrate supporting and immediately below the Fort Decking blocks must provide adequate (positive) drainage. Improper drainage could compromise the structural integrity of the Fort Decking block foundation system. Fort Decking blocks should not be installed on water logged soil.
• Always refer to local building codes and material guidelines before placing Fort Decking blocks over a roofing substrate or water membrane. It is recommended to securely attach the Fort Decking blocks to the substrate when not building on the ground.
• For installations in high wind or flooding prone areas, it is recommended that the Fort Decking blocks be used in conjunction with traditional concrete and steel supports to ensure adequate safety and stability.
• Fort Decking blocks should not be used in a stacked configuration (and should only be installed on terra firma or on another appropriate substrate).
• The Fort Decking block foundation system should be checked regularly for damage, settling, shifting and rocking and to ensure that the footings remain level and in full contact to the ground and/or adequately secured to the other substrate on which they have been installed. The Fort Decking blocks may need to be readjusted and/or remediated if any such circumstances are noticed.
• No cleaning products (other than mild soaps and moderate amounts of water), paint, stains, or chemicals should be applied to the Fort Decking blocks.
• It is recommended that an engineering compliance certificate or other relevant compliance inspection should be undertaken and issued before usage of the Fort Decking block foundation system.
